Central intelligence agencies have warned senior officers of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Jammu and Kashmir Police that terror outfits Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) are planning to target residences of J&K officers posted in Delhi and the office of the NIA in the UT.

Earlier, the agencies had shared inputs on LeT and JeM militants’ plan to attack security forces by executing IED blasts on the convoy routes from Baramulla towards Kupwara, Sopore and Bandipora, it is learnt.

Last month, militants ambushed a truck near Bhatta Durian on the Bhimber Gali-Surankote road in J&K’s Poonch district, killing five army personnel. People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), an offshoot of Pakistan-based JeM, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

It is also speculated that the attackers may have been provided logistical support by the LeT.

Pakistan-based Lashkar commander Rafiq Nai and his brother Shamsher Nai hail from the Balakote area of Poonch.

Sources told The Indian Express that the Central intelligence agencies have also informed that Tangdhar in Kupwara was the preferred sector for infiltration in the Valley, while Krishna Ghati in Poonch was the preferred sector for infiltration in Jammu region.

According to a central intelligence officer, (Pakistan intelligence agency) ISI also tried to ascertain details of the upcoming G20 meeting in Srinagar. At the behest of the ISI, anti-India lobby groups and radical elements were indulging in propaganda against the hosting of G20 in J&K.
