62-year-old Gurmeet Singh walked into the venue of Anna Hazare’s fast-unto-death protest here around noon only to create a flutter among activists and supporters who,for a moment, thought he was Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Gurmeet, who is a lookalike of the Prime Minister, joined the protest saying the fight is for a safe future for children.

“I am here to support Hazare. The fight is for ensuring a better future for our children. I think that the Prime Minister should listen to him and support him,” he told PTI.

For a moment, the gathering at the protest site mistook him for the Prime Minister saying,”Oh! the Prime Minister is here.”

However, soon they realised he is a lookalike and jostled to be photographed with him.

Meanwhile, the protest gained momentum with people across the country pledging support to it.

“We are protesting in support of Hazare. We want the government should accept the Jan Lokpal Bill as suggested by the civil society. We will go on fast from tomorrow in Bhopal if Hazare’s demand are not met,” said Abdul Jabbar, who works for the welfare of Bhopal gas tragedy victims.
