Dissatisfied with the failure of the senior counsel representing the Union ministries of Centre and the Delhi Government to give proper replies to its questions on the whereabouts of missing engineer Fasih Mohammad, who went missing from Saudi Arabia after being allegedly picked up by Indian intelligence sleuths on May 13,the Supreme Court today asked the Centre to file its reply by June 6.
The Bench of Justices K S Radhakrishnan and J S Khehar, which was hearing the habeas corpus petition filed by Fasihs wife Nikhat Parveens, listed the matter for June 6 but not before telling the senior counsel,It is an important matter. We want to know the whereabouts of the petitioners husband.
When the senior counsel tried to read from newspaper reports, which quoted Union Home Minister P Chidambaram as saying that a Red Corner Notice for Fasih Mohammad had been issued, the Bench intervened and said,It is an important matter, dont read from (a) newspaper.
Yesterday,Chidambaram had said that reports that Fasih had been detained by Indian intelligence agencies were completely wrong.
