A BSF jawan was killed and three others injured as Pakistani mortars continued raining on R S Pura,Arnia,Ramgarh and Akhnoor sectors along the International border on Tuesday night.
Identifying the deceased jawan as M L Meena of Rajasthan,sources said that the injured jawans; Ashok Kumarm Surinder Kumar and Pradeep have been hospitalized. These jawans were posted at BSF’s Chenaz post in Arnia sector.
The Pakistani Rangers,in what may be called the biggest ever ceasefire violation during the last few years,targeted nearly 50 BSF posts along the international border. Along the Line of Control (LoC) also,Pakistani troops continued Pakistani troops continued firing mortar shells at various places inMendhar and Bhimber Gali (BG) areas last night.
With three mortar shells falling in Arnia town as well,the continued firing from Pakistan led to panic among people. Villagers at Jasso Chak and S M Pur migrated from their native places during night itself and took shelter at Radha Swami Satsang Ghar in Ramgarh.
The BSF also retaliated and the exchange of firing continued between two sides throughout night.
However,unprovoked firing by Pakistan spoiled the festivity in border villages who,despite Karva Chouth switched off their lights early in the evening and stayed indoors.
