Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday launched another attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),accusing it of double standards on the issue of crime against women.
Uma Bharti defends Asaram,says rape charge against him may be politically motivated
Without naming Asaram Bapu,the Congress leader,in his latest salvo,alleged that while the BJP demands death penalty for other accused in rape cases,it seeks pardon to “fake God Men”.
Digvijaya posted a tweet on Wednesday morning,”Double standards of BJP on crime against women. Death penalty to others but pardon to fake God Men !”
This comes after several BJP leaders,including party vice president Uma Bharti,backed Asaram Bapu over alleged rape charges on him. Bharti had said that the charges might be politically motivated.
“Asaram used to criticise in a bold manner Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi,and in both Rajasthan and Delhi,Congress is in power. I have a feeling that there might be some political motive behind the issue,” she had said.
