Juxtaposing “jungle raj” and “ujala (light)”, BJP president and Union Minister J P Nadda Saturday targeted RJD chief Lalu Prasad during whose time, he said, Bihar was sinking while under CM Nitish Kumar, people are travelling comfortably on expressways in the state.

With an eye on the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls, Nadda reminded Purvanchali voters in New Delhi during “Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat, Sneh Milan Programme”, organised under ‘Bihar Day 2025’, that there was a time when people asked Lalu to build roads, he responded that better roads would make it easier for police to come.

Delhi ke liye dhanyawad aur Bihar ki oaar kooch karo (Thanks for Delhi and now do something towards Bihar,” Nadda said.

Referring to the “jungle raj” during Lalu’s rule in the state, he said a time had come when “moving around in Patna city after 5 pm was difficult” and “cars were taken out of showrooms to attend baraat in weddings”.

“I have seen that sinking Bihar,” Nadda said and accused Lalu of turning Bihar into “jungle raj” that led to migration of doctors because “kidnapping had become an industry, and there was darkness in Bihar”.

Under CM Nitish Kumar, Nadda said, Bihar saw “ujala” (light) and progress in the policies of PM Narendra Modi-led central government. Nadda underlined that it was the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government which included Maithili in the Eighth Schedule. He listed the expressways and other infrastructure projects in Bihar undertaken by the NDA government under the leadership of Modi and Nitish Kumar.

Referring to AAP’s defeat in Delhi, he said there was “amavasya” and the state was heading towards “vinaash (destruction)” instead of “vikas” (growth).

During the event, the BJP distributed pamphlets containing data comparing the periods 1990 to 2005 and 2005 to 2025 on parameters such as the state’s budget, GDP, per capita income, availability of electricity and industrial growth and termed it “jungle raj vs sushashan raj (good governance).”
