Vadra-DLF land deal: Haryana govt fails to trace ‘missing’ papers

Haryana Chief Minister M L Khattar had also claimed that the state government had a “duplicate copy” of the “missing documents” and there would be no problem in retrieving those papers.

The state government is conducting an inquiry on the missing documents, ordered by Haryana Chief Secretary P K Gupta. An undersecretary rank officer posted in the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell, Pawan Kumar, has been asked to submit his report in 10 days.

IAS officer Ashok Khemka had cancelled the mutation of the land deal between Robert Vadra’s M/s Skylight Hospitality and DLF Universal Limited in village Shikhopur, Gurgaon. After being issued a chargesheet by the state government for major penalty, Khemka had filed a petition in the State Information Commission seeking certain documents to vindicate his stand.

However, on December 12, the SPIO of Personnel Department filed an affidavit in the State Information Commission and disclosed that the two documents, desired by Khemka, were not traceable in the official records.

The two documents carry notings of former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, whereby the three-member inquiry committee was constituted to probe issues raised by Khemka while cancelling the mutation. The committee had given a clean chit to the Vadra-DLF land deal.

“We have not been able to trace the missing papers. The person, who we thought had the papers, did not have them. Either the person is deliberately not giving us the papers, or he genuinely does not have them. It is being investigated,” P K Gupta told The Indian Express.
