The Telangana government has begun the much-anticipated process to fill approximately 1.22 lakh vacant posts in 33 departments. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao has given his nod to set up Telangana State Public Service Commission under the chairmanship of G Chakrapani, who is a professor at B R Ambedkar Open University.

The TRS government had initially identified 1.07 lakh vacant posts in 31 departments as on June 2, the day Telangana state officially came into existence. It has now been revised to 1.22 lakh vacant posts in 33 departments.

The TRS government has also increased the upper age limit by five years for certain posts.

“The dreams of thousands of unemployed youths will come true. This is what we fought for so passionately during the Telangana movement, and many died for it. In undivided Andhra Pradesh under previous governments, Telangana people were denied jobs for some reason or the other. Finally, Telangana people will get the jobs that are theirs,’’ said state Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy.
