Close to three months after the Mumbai police’s Crime Branch arrested alleged repeat offender Chandrabhan Sanap for the rape and murder of an Andhra Pradesh native, a chargesheet was filed against him Monday.
Sources said call data records, witness statements and reports of DNA comparison were the main components of the chargesheet.
In the chargesheet, Sanap, is charged with murder, abduction, rape, robbery, destruction of evidence and impersonation of a public servant.
An officer said they would now apply for permission to try the case in a fast-track court.
The victim, a 24-year-old software engineer went missing on January 5.
Set up panel to look into safety of J&K rail project: HC
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court Monday directed the Centre to constitute a fresh expert committee to look into the controversy over the safety of the Katra-Quazigund railway project currently under way in J&K.
The order was issued on a PIL filed by the Centre for Public Interest Litigation seeking an expert committee to look into the technical aspects of the alignment plan for the Katra-Qazigund railway.
A bench of Justices Badar Durrez Ahmad and Siddharth Mridul also directed that the former DMRC chief, E Sreedharan, head the five-member expert panel. The also court directed the committee submit its report to the Railway Board within 8 weeks.
The Katra-Qazigund stretch is part of a National project to link the Kashmir valley to the main Indian railways network.
