Two run-away lovers keen to enter into a wedlock have approached the Delhi High Court pleading that a notice,normally sent to the homes of the bride and the groom before court marriages,should not be issued by the authorities as their families may spoil their dream.
The lovers,both in their early twenties,pleaded before the court that the marriage officer be restrained from sending a notice of intended marriage to their families as they would not let the marriage to take place.
The intended marriage is most likely to be frustrated as the parents and other family members would try to influence,persuade and indulge in blackmailing, said advocates Jyoshna and C S Parasher who appeared for aspiring bride and groom ,respectively.
Their plan to marry would be disclosed to the groom’s parents,in case the notice is sent to his residence,who would raise a number of emotional social and other issues relating to the cultural,social and economic background of the bride, they said.
Justice S Ravindra Bhat after hearing their contention issued notice to the Delhi Government seeking its response on whether the couple could be allowed to marry without prior notice being issued at their parents residence.
