Days after CBI told BSP chief Mayawati that she would be questioned in connection with the NRHM scam, Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday attached assets worth Rs 196 crore belonging to Mayawati’s close aide Babu Singh Kushwaha in connection with the case.
The ED, in its attachment order, alleged that Kushwaha, as health minister of UP, had helped many firms in rigging contracts. The agency has earlier questioned Kushwaha in this case.
“The attached assets include movable and immovable assets… An amount of Rs 7.12 crore has been utilised as book value purchase of various properties in the name of companies, firms and individuals related to the former minister …The market value of these assets is Rs 196 crore approximately,” the order said.
