Bihar CM Jeetan Ram Manjhi, who came under attack from the BJP over reports of his son getting involved in an alleged sexual escapade with a policewoman, on Saturday defended his son saying that anybody can have a girlfriend.
“Anybody can have a girlfriend… there is no evidence of any wrongdoing against my son,” Manjhi told reporters when asked about the incident.
“CCTV footage of the hotel does not show any wrongdoing,” he added.
Asked if the BJP had made it an issue, Manjhi accused the Opposition of hatching a “political conspiracy” against him as he is a Mahadalit.
BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said in a Facebook post that the CM was defending his son in the case by not getting an FIR registered.
