Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Saturday said the government would not take any action against DGP (law and order) K S Balasubramaniam, who is facing the allegation that he tried to salvage businessman Muhammed Nisham, who is facing murder charge after he fatally hit a security guard by ramming his hummer into him.

The other day, Government chief whip P C George had revealed a CD containing conversation between M N Krishnamoorthi, who retired as DGP last week, and former Thrissur police commissioner Jacob Job, who is under suspension over holding a meeting with Nisham. In the conversation, Krishnamoorthi was heard saying that Balasubramaniam had interest in Nisham’s case.

Chandy told the media that the government has confidence in the DGP. There is no evidence in the CD to show that Balasubramaniam tried to meddle in the investigation to favour Nisham.

But, George said the DGP should keep away from the office, if he has self respect. “I would reveal more evidence against him. I have confidence in the allegations raised against Balasubramaniam,’’ said George.
