Cabinet minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon and adviser to the chief minister,Maheshinder Singh Grewal,on Tuesday took a dig at Congress spokesperson and former MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira by claiming that he seems to have forgotten his status while challenging Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia to a public debate.

On Monday,Khaira had dared Majithia to a public debate on the alleged decline of medium and small scale industry in the state.

Stating while SAD was ready for a debate on all issues concerning Punjab, both leaders said such a debate could only happen among equals. “We are ready to field an able former legislator of Sukhpal Khaira’s choice from our party to debate the entire gamut of development undertaken by the SAD-BJP government… The party is also ready to share facts and figures about the manner in which development and even recruitment came to a halt in the state during Capt Amarinder Singh-led Congress government between 2002-2007,” the leaders said.

“Khaira lost the last election to Bibi Jagir Kaur from Bholath. After having been rejected by the people of Bholath he has migrated to Chandigarh. Now,he is trying to become politically relevant again by throwing challenges to senior SAD leaders,” they added.

Meanwhile,Majithia on Tuesday alleged in Baghapurana that the Congress high command was hell-bent on weakening the Indian economy. This is to facilitate the return of the black money of their top leaders’ that has been stashed abroad,he claimed.
