Diabetic girl from Ahmedabad scales Greece mountain

Aiming to create awareness among diabetics, city-based Maitry Pancholi (21) has scaled the White Mountains in Crete, Greece. She is the only Indian in a team of 11 members to do so this year. Her remarkable fete lies in the fact the she was diagnosed with having type 1 diabetes at the age of 12 when she had lost her father.

Maitry completed the ‘Type 1 Diabetes Youth Challenge’ to scale White Mountains Crete in Greece guided by diabetologist Dr Banshi Saboo who helped her join World Diabetes Tour this year. A postgraduate student, Maitry scaled 2080-metre-high peak of Mounts Gingilos in Crete,Greece, between August 25 and 28.
