Dead lizard in MDM, 25 children ill in Bihar

Last Year, 23 children had died after eating midday meal at Gandaman primary school of Chhapra.

As many as 25 children of a Siwan primary school were taken ill after they ate their midday meal Friday. The school administration later said a dead lizard was found in the meal. The children are stated to be out of danger.

The incident took place at Sonbarsa village primary school under Maharajganj police station when all 25 children started vomiting after eating the meal. They were taken to Sadar hospital Siwan from where they were discharged.

Siwan district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh said: “Prima facie investigation showed that it was because of a dead lizard in the food. The school administration has been asked to submit a report and take extra precaution.”

Last Year, 23 children had died after eating midday meal at Gandaman primary school of Chhapra. The state had tagged over 5,000 schools without buildings to nearest schools after the incident to ensure proper monitoring of MDM.
