Cong-NCP make headway in seat-sharing talks

The understanding between two parties draws a curtain on the speculation of a break-up of the alliance and likelihood of an NCP-Shiv Sena tie-up.

In the fourth round of talks held on late Tuesday night on seat sharing in Maharashtra for Lok Sabha polls,Congress and NCP leaders have reached an understanding on 40 out 48 seats.

It draws a curtain on the speculation of a break-up of the alliance and the likelihood of an NCP-Shiv Sena tie-up.

The dispute on the remaining 8 seats would be resolved in Delhi in a day or two by national leaders,according to Dy Chief Minister Chaggan Bhujbal.

The meeting,held at the official residence of Bhujbal,was attended by Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan,former CM Vilasrao Deshmukh,Industries Minister Narayan Rane and Gurudas Kamat on the Congress side and Water Resources Minister Ajit Pawar,Chaggan Bhujbal,R R Patil and Rural Development Minister Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil on the NCP side.
