Briefly Region: Punjab hospitals get waste system

As many as 173 hospitals in Punjab have implemented the bio-medical waste management system,Health and Family Welfare Minister Madan Mohan Mittal said on Sunday.

As many as 173 hospitals in Punjab have implemented the bio-medical waste management system,Health and Family Welfare Minister Madan Mohan Mittal said on Sunday. He added that these hospitals have entered into a contract with the common bio-medical waste treatment facility (CBWTF) identified by the Punjab Pollution Control Board to dispose the waste as per guidelines. Four common facilities have been established in the state at SAS Nagar,Ludhiana,Amritsar and Pathankot,the minister said.

Sonepat to have 12 new sub-stations

SONEPAT: TO further strengthen its power system,Haryana has proposed to set up 12 new sub stations in Sonepat district over the next two years,Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda said after laying the foundation stone of a 33 kV sub station at Bhawar village near Gohana on Sunday.

Four held for betting on cricket match

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana police arrested four people- Pankaj,Rajesh,Praveen and Manoj – for allegedly betting on a cricket match between England and Australia. They were found at Rohtak’s Janta colony. Police recovered laptops,televisions,mobile phones and SIM cards from their possession. They will be produced in court on Monday.

Special cops to secure Haryana courts

CHANDIGARH: To avert any untoward incident on court premises,the Rohtak range has decided that from now on,only those policemen with special training to use firearms will be deployed on court-security duties. The decision will be implemented in the Rohtak range covering four districts including Rohtak,Sonepat,Panipat and Jhajjar. The instructions were issued to all the four district police chiefs by the Rohtak range Inspector General of Police Anil Rao on Sunday.

7-year-old molested in Garshankar

HOSHIARPUR: A seven-year-old girl was allegedly molested by an unidentified person at Garshankar. A case for has been registered against unidentified person on the complaint of her parents. Police said that the victim was a UKG student in a private school in Garhshankar town. Doctors,however,have not confirmed rape.

Badal appreciates 338 officers

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has issued appreciation letters to 338 officers and officials of the state government for their hard work and exemplary courage exhibited by them in carrying out relief and rescue operations during the recent floods in Uttarakhand.
