Vikram Singh Chauhan, the ‘lawyer’ who was involved in Monday’s assault at Patiala court, flaunts his access to BJP leaders on Facebook. His Facebook page is full of posts of him posing with top leaders of the party including Home Minister Rajnath Singh and his other cabinet colleagues.

The Facebook page, which has more than 300 likes, describes himself as a lawyer and also a “worker of BJP”. His address, interestingly, is that of the Delhi High Court.

The cover photo of the page shows Vikram leaning on a sofa chair on which Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is seated. The profile photo is him with veteran BJP leader LK Advani.

Vikram has also posted pictures of him standing next to senior-most BJP leaders such as JP Nadda, Nirmala Sitharaman, Anurag Thankur, Sushil Modi, Dharmendra Pradhan and Kailash Vijaywargiya.

The rare text post on the page is in Hindi, dated October 26, 2015. It announces that he has a filed a writ petition in the Delhi High Court against what he calls the “media’s provocative and misleading strategy”. He calls on readers to post instances of the media promoting news in a wrong light. “Har jagah gandagi phaila rakha hai in logon ne, aayo inko sabak sikhayen (These people have defiled the atmosphere everywhere, let’s teach them a lesson),” he goes on to add.

On Wednesday, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi told reporters that Vikram has been issued summons asking him to appear before the police team investigating the assault at Patiala House Courts. He confirmed to The Indian Express that he was part of the group that attacked journalists and JNU students at the court.

“A few media people were possibly caught in between as we were beating people who recorded videos. But when we realised they were from the media, we asked them to leave,” Vikram told The Indian Express.
