IN VIEW of the drought situation across the country, the Rural Development Ministry has decided to extend for 2016-17 the additional 50 days of work per household under MGNREGA.

Rural Development Minister Birender Singh told The Indian Express that the ministry took the call Monday following a review of the drought situation. “Our earlier decision was to provide 150 days per household till March 31. We have now extended it. This will be applicable for not only the 10 states that have been declared drought-affected, but also for three more states that are to be soon notified similarly,” said Singh.
