Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to be laid to rest in his native town of Bijbehara

Mufti Mohammad Sayeed passed away earlier today at the AIIMS hospital in New Delhi. He was 79.

The funeral of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who passed away earlier today, will be held in Srinagar. Later, his body will be laid to rest at Bijbehara, Mufti’s native town in Anantnag district in south Kashmir.

Officials said that from Srinagar airport, the body of Sayeed will be taken first to his official residence at Fairview in Gupkar. Later, the funeral will be held at Sher-e-Kashmir cricket stadium in which leaders across the political spectrum and workers of the PDP will attend.

PDP leaders told the Indian Express that hundreds of PDP supporters have already gathered at Bijbehara to bid final farewell to the party patron.

Meanwhile, leaders and workers from different mainstream parties have started converging at Fairview. Many ministers stationed in Jammu have also arrived in Srinagar. Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be attending the funeral in Srinagar.
