A teenager, who allegedly ran over a 32-year-old marketing executive while driving his father’s Mercedes in April, Thursday approached the sessions court, challenging the Juvenile Justice Board’s (JJB’s) order to try him as an adult. In his appeal, the boy stated his previous offences were related to traffic violations.

Advocate Rajiv Mohan filed the appeal before the sessions court and challenged the JJB’s order on the grounds that the copy of the chargesheet was not provided to him.

Relying on the report submitted on May 25 by a clinical psychologist, the JJB had allowed the police’s plea to try the teenager as an adult. The JJB had said the minor offender “had the ability to understand the consequences of the offence.”
