J&K: BSF jawan killed, 5 others injured after Pakistan violates ceasefire in Rajouri

This was the fourth ceasefire violation since Saturday. Five BSF personnel were injured in shelling at Tarkundi area of Rajouri district, sources said, adding that one of them later succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as Head Constable Raj Singh of Kheri Sapala, Rohtak in Haryana. He is survived by his wife Sunita Devi, three sons and a mother, sources said.

“Last night in heavy shelling from Pakistan side along the LoC in Rajouri area, four BSF Personnel sustained splinter injuries. Head Constable Raj Singh, who was seriously injured, succumbed to his injuries, while the condition of another personnel was serious,” a BSF officer said.

Meawhile, schools falling in Dahrgloon, Bahrooti, Swala, Panji, Dharati, Basooni, Sanohte, Bahrote, Lanjiot, Rehllan, Patri have been closed due to the heavy shelling from across the border.

Sunday’s ceasefire violation came a day after a BSF jawan and a woman were injured, and two houses were damaged when Pakistani troops targeted Indian posts and civilian areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera and Sunderbani sectors of Rajouri with mortar attacks and small arms fire.

On Saturday morning, Pakistani army resorted to ceasefire violation in Nowshera sector and in the afternoon they targetted Indian posts and civilian areas in Sunderbani sector. On Thursday, Pakistani army had targeted Indian posts and civilian villages along the LoC in the Pallanwala sector of Jammu district. Pakistani troops on Tuesday targeted Indian posts with heavy firing and shelling for four hours along the LoC in Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir, forcing Indian troops to retaliate.

There have been a whopping 286 incidents of firing and shelling along the LoC and the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistani troops that have resulted in the death of 26 people, including 14 security personnel, since the surgical strike on terrorist launch pads in PoK on September 29.
