‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ – which stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan – had run into a storm of protests after nationalist groups, and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena said they won’t let any movie featuring Pakistani artistes get screened in cinemas across the country. MNS party workers had threatened to vandalise cinemas halls and multiplexes against screening the movie. The reaction came after 19 soldiers were killed in a terrorist attack on an Army camp in Uri last month.

Producer Mukesh Bhatt, who accompanied Karan Johar and UTV motion pictures CEO Siddharth Roy Kapur at the meeting, told the media that Johar will run a special mention in the film paying homage to the martyrs. The meeting took place at the chief minister’s official south Mumbai residence ‘Varsha’.

The chief minister promised the filmmakers that the government will not allow anyone to disturb law and order. He said while democratic protests are fine, unlawful activities will not be tolerated. Raj Thackeray was accompanied by MNS leader Shalini Thackeray and Ameya Khopkar who heads the party’s film wing.
