The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Monday appointed Rajasthan Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant as the Union Social Justice and Empowerment Secretary, starting December 1.
Pant will take over from the present Secretary Amit Yadav, who is set to retire on November 30.
“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Shri Sudhansh Pant, IAS (RJ:91), presently in the cadre, as Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment vice Shri Amit Yadav, IAS (AGMUT:91), upon his superannuation on 30.11.2025,” the order said.
After the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections and the formation of the BJP government in December that year, Pant, who was the then Union Health and Family Welfare Secretary, was moved to the state. He took over as the Chief Secretary on January 1, 2024. He will superannuate in February 2027.
Before his stint in the Health Ministry, Pant had served as Shipping and Waterways Secretary from 2022 to 2023. Before that, he had served as the chairman of the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board.
