As New Delhi gears up for the G20 Summit, the Northern Railway has released a list of over 300 trains that will be impacted during the event. These trains have been either cancelled or diverted to other routes or stations between September 8 and 11, according to a post on X, by Northern Railway.
As per the advisory issued for security arrangements, services of 207 trains have been terminated including Amritsar Jn-New Delhi Express and Kanpur Central-Anand Vihar Terminal Express. Moreover, the terminals of 15 trains have been changed, and the routes of six trains diverted.
As per the Northern Railway, 70 trains have been given additional stoppage stations to minimise passenger discomfort, including Jammu Tawi-New Delhi Rajdhani, Tejas Rajdhani Hazrat Nizamuddin, Varanasi-New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani among others. Further, the origin and termination stations of 36 trains have also been changed, and three trains will not stop at Delhi’s Kishan Ganj during the summit.
Security has been amped up in the city and more traffic restrictions are set to be implemented as the national capital gears up for the G20 Heads of State and Government Summit, to be held on September 9 and 10.
Heads of states and governments from all the G20 members (except for Russia’s Vladimir Putin and probably China’s Xi Jinping), the invited heads from other partner nations, and representatives of global organisations like the UN, IMF, World Bank and WTO, will arrive in Delhi to attend the meeting.
