Foxconn, the global electronics manufacturing giant, announced on Monday that it will invest Rs 15,000 crore in Tamil Nadu, creating 14,000 high-value engineering jobs and establishing the country’s first dedicated “Foxconn Desk” at the state’s investment promotion agency, Guidance Tamil Nadu.

The announcement came after a meeting between Chief Minister M K Stalin and Robert Wu, Foxconn’s India representative and senior global executive, marking what officials described as a “new milestone” in the company’s partnership with the state.

The delegation also included Tamil Nadu Industries minister TRB Rajaa and senior government officials. In a statement on X, Rajaa called it the “largest ever engineering jobs commitment for Tamil Nadu.”

“Foxconn commits Rs 15,000 crore in investments and 14,000 high-value jobs. Engineers, get ready! Tamil Nadu’s investment promotion agency, Guidance TN, will be the first in India to have a dedicated Foxconn Desk,” he wrote. “Yet another major boost for Tamil Nadu’s electronics and advanced manufacturing sector… Foxconn will bring its next phase of value-added manufacturing, R&D integration, and AI-led advanced tech operations to Tamil Nadu. We are setting the stage for Dravidian Model 2.0!”

According to an official release, the meeting reaffirmed Tamil Nadu’s position as a global hub for high-value manufacturing, exports, and engineering innovation. Foxconn’s new investments will accelerate the state’s push toward advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies, including battery systems and AI-led production models.

Wu praised Tamil Nadu’s “governance model, proactive industrial policies, and world-class talent pool”. “Tamil Nadu’s infrastructure readiness, ease of doing business reforms, and future-focused policy leadership make it a preferred destination for Foxconn’s next phase of growth in India,” he said, talking about the company’s long-term commitment to the state.

The newly announced “Foxconn Desk” at Guidance Tamil Nadu will act as a single-window mechanism to fast-track industrial projects, coordinate investor facilitation, and ensure “mission-mode” execution across departments. Officials said this is the first such institutional collaboration between Foxconn and a state government in India.

Stalin welcomed the fresh investment and assured full support through the Industries department’s single-window facilitation system and skill development initiatives tailored for the company’s expansion. “This initiative reflects Tamil Nadu’s transformation from a manufacturing destination into a strategic innovation and engineering hub for the global supply chain,” he said.

The latest commitment from Foxconn comes amid the company’s broader plan for India as a key manufacturing base, following years of concentrated operations in China. For the ruling DMK government in the state, it represents another major industrial milestone as well as a symbolic step toward what officials are calling the “Dravidian Model 2.0” – a blend of welfare-driven governance and aggressive industrial modernisation.
