Second ministerial meeting today: India, Singapore to identify new areas to elevate strategic ties

The ministers will attend the second round of the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) along with their Singaporean counterparts on Monday, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

India and Singapore are going to hold the second round of ministerial roundtable Monday, which will review various aspects of their Strategic Partnership and identify new avenues to further elevate and broaden it.

According to a statement by the MEA, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and Minister of Railways, I&B, and Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw will participate in the roundtable.

Singapore will be represented by Deputy PM and Minister (Trade & Industry) Gan Kim Yong, Minister (Foreign Affairs) Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister (Home Affairs) (Law) K Shanmugam, Minister (Digital Development & Information) and Second Minister (Home Affairs) Josephine Teo, Minister (Manpower) and Second Minister (Trade & Industry) Tan See Leng, and Minister (Transport) and Second Minister (Finance) Chee Hong Tat.

The main objectives of the second ISMR are to review the progress in bilateral collaboration since the first ISMR and explore new areas of collaboration particularly in sustainability, digitalisation, skills development, healthcare and medicine, advanced manufacturing and connectivity.

There has been good progress since the inaugural meeting of ISMR in New Delhi in September 2022.
