Cyclone Montha: Are schools closed today in Odisha and Andhra?

School Holiday list: Cyclone Montha has weakened but continues to bring heavy rain and strong winds across Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. Schools and anganwadi centres will remain closed in several districts on Wednesday, October 29, due to the cyclone’s impact.

Cyclone Montha impact in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh: Cyclone Montha, though weakened now, carries considerable force. Along with strong winds, it brings in heavy rain.

The Severe Cyclonic Storm Montha over coastal Andhra Pradesh moved northwestwards with a speed of 10 kmph, the IMD said in a bulletin.


Due to this, all schools and anganwadi centres shall remain closed in multiple districts on Wednesday, October 29.

In Odisha, too, school holidays have been declared in 11  districts, including Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur,  Gajapati, and Khorda.

Due to the cyclone’s impact in Tamil Nadu, schools in Chennai will remain closed as well.
