Two burglars were injured in police firing when they were allegedly attempting a burglary at a locked house at Somanna Garden in the HMT Layout in North Bangalore.
The incident took place on Tuesday morning when a police head constable spotted the burglars inside the house of a retired engineer and raised an alarm.
The duo were shot by the police after they attacked the constable while he was trying to nab them, Additional Commissioner of Police (law and order) Alok Kumar said.
Preliminary investigations had revealed that a three member gang of burglars came to Bangalore in a train on January 22, police said.
“The accused look like professional criminals going by their modus operandi. We are investigating their antecedents. We are also investigating whether they committed any other burglaries in the city since arriving five days week ago,” the senior police officer said.
