A 31-year old man employed with a leading IT firm here murdered his wife whom he married just six days ago and attempted suicide,police said today.

Bijoy Samuel of Bhopal,working in the HR department of the firm,was arrested and produced before a city court which remanded him in 14-day judicial custody last night,they said.

Samuel strangulated his wife Rajani Rajan (25),a Keralite he had married on April 24,using a cloth and then tried to commit suicide by slashing his wrist,Deputy Commissioner of Police H S Revanna told PTI.

The incident came to light when Samuel’s elder brother Ajay came to the couple’s house in Ganganagar yesterday to invite them for a function at his residence.

Samuel told the police that he killed his wife because of her “utter dislike” for him and continuous criticism about his behaviour.
