1 killed, 35 injured as bus carrying Vaishno Devi pilgrims falls off road in J-K’s Samba

J&K Samba Bus Accident: A Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrim was killed and 35 others were injured when their bus skidded off the road along the National Highway 44 in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district.

The bus was carrying pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district to Katra town, which is a base camp for pilgrims going to the Shri Mata Vaishnodevi shrine in the Trikuta Hills.

The deceased has been identified as Kripal alias Iqbal, 31, the son of Harbans of Rukhalu, Hasanpur, in Amroha district. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, while some critically wounded were referred to AIIMS, Jammu, for specialised treatment, the police said.

The police said that the condition of some of the injured is critical.

The injured include Phool Kumar, Om Kala, Rum Singh, Bala, Kajal, Rakesh Kumar, Pushpa, Ompal, Mavasi, Nambir, Jaipal, Sobram, Reena, Suraj, Mukesh, Arti, Ramvati, Rinku, Uadal Singh, Nirmal, Ashok, Kaushal, and Dushant Singh.

Those referred to AIIMS are Pushpinder, Bhagwan Saye, Khoof Chand, Gajraj, Vijender, Rajinder, and Poonam, besides others.

The police have registered a case, and further investigation is underway.
