Bihar Election 2025 LIVE Updates: ‘Congress rejected by people of Bihar’, says Yogi Adityanath in Siwan

Addressing a rally in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said, “The NDA had promised in Uttar Pradesh that it would end the mafia rule and put a stop to riots, and we have delivered. Not a single riot has taken place in the last eight and a half years. Anyone who dared to instigate violence was sent to jail, and their property was seized and turned into homes for the poor. Today, there are no riots in Uttar Pradesh, everything is peaceful."

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday charged Congress' Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru with having “insulted” Rajendra Prasad, the country's first President, by asking him not to attend the inauguration of a renovated Somnath temple.

The senior BJP leader made the remark while addressing an election rally in Siwan district of Bihar, which was the birthplace of Prasad.

“The Congress has been rejected by the people of Bihar because it has insulted stalwarts like Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Rajendra Prasad and Karpoori Thakur. Even the party's own former president Sitaram Kesri, who belonged to this state, was humiliated," Adityanath alleged.

He also claimed that when "Rajendra babu decided to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Somnath temple in Gujarat, Congress' Prime Minister Nehru told him that he must not go there".

"But for Rajendra babu, it was a matter of faith, and he said he would choose to give up his post rather than not attending the function," the Uttar Pradesh chief minister said at the rally.

Congress leader Ashok Gehlot Friday claimed that the ruling NDA released its manifesto for the Bihar assembly elections in a press conference that lasted only 26 seconds, as they are afraid of facing questions from journalists.

Addressing a press conference here, Gehlot termed the NDA's manifesto a “string of lies”.

He also wondered why Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, and not CM Nitish Kumar, spoke about the manifesto.

“Was he (Kumar) not in a position to speak about it?” the Congress leader asked.

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh, who is also present at Gehlot's press meet, claimed that Nitish Kumar not being allowed to speak on the manifesto was a disrespect for Bihar and Biharis.

Gehlot said, “NDA leaders' press conference lasted merely 26 seconds. They were afraid of the questions that may have been asked by reporters about their governance.” They should have begun their press conference with a report card of their 20-year rule, he said.

On NDA's joint 'Sankalp Patra', BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said, "...The NDA is the name of development. The NDA is the name of crime-free, corruption-free governance. And I believe the people of Bihar should read this manifesto. Because whatever the BJP says, the NDA will definitely do it. Bihar has progressed under our NDA rule. The people of Bihar have got employment on a large scale due to the infrastructure being continuously built...Now, people from Bihar who used to work outside are coming back to Bihar. I can say with full confidence that the development that Nitish and Modi have done in Bihar will now move forward at an even faster pace with Chirag Babu, Upendra Kushwaha, and Jitan Ram Manjhi."

On NDA's joint 'Sankalp Patra,' RJD leader Manoj Kumar Jha said, "To put it bluntly, it is pressure. We released the manifesto ahead of time. It has an attraction among the people, and they are looking at it with hope. Tejashwi Yadav made a clear commitment... On the jobs front, the record of the PM and his team is zero..."

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced that if the NDA comes to power, its government will provide Rs 10 lakh to individuals from the Extremely Backward Class (EBC) category and establish a commission chaired by a Supreme Court judge.

The party’s manifesto also includes plans to build seven expressways and ten industrial parks, offer free quality education from kindergarten to post-graduation, and give Rs 2,000 per month to Scheduled Caste (SC) students pursuing higher education.

Other highlights of the 69-page manifesto include developing a world-class medicity, setting up a medical college in every district, providing free ration and medical treatment worth Rs 5 lakh, and constructing 50 lakh additional pucca houses.
