    Election Commission releases final electoral roll for Bihar assembly election

    The Election Commission has released the final electoral roll for the 2025 Bihar assembly elections. The final electoral roll, published on Tuesday, is based on the Bihar SIR (Special Intensive Revision) draft list, which was published in August. The draft list had the names of 7.24 crore voters, and the final list, around 65 lakh names were deleted after they were identified as having passed away, moved out, or whose names had been listed as duplicate entries. The Bihar SIR had come under scrutiny after the Opposition alleged deliberate mass deletion of legitimate voters. Read more

    YouTuber arrested for spreading misinformation about Karur stampede

    The Tamil Nadu Police on Tuesday arrested a YouTuber for allegedly spreading misinformation about the stampede that killed 41 people at a rally of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in Karur on Saturday. The YouTuber, Felix Gerald, who runs a Tamil-language current affairs channel, was arrested after he posted a video blaming the state government for the disaster. Several others, including TVK functionaries and social media users, have also been booked for spreading misinformation about the stampede. Read more

    Kamaltai Gavai, the mother of Chief Justice of India B R Gavai will be the chief guest at an RSS event linked to Vijayadashami celebrations, in Maharashtra’s Amravati, on October 5. Kamaltai, who is a political activist and the wife of late Ramakrishna Gavai, the former governor of Maharashtra, will be the guest at RSS’s annual Vijayadashmi event at its headquarters in Nagpur, which this year also coincides with the centennial ceremony of the Sangh’s formation.     Judge suspends Trump admin’s plan to eliminate hundreds of Voice of America jobs

    A federal judge in the US has temporarily suspended the Trump administration’s plan to eliminate hundreds of jobs at the agency that oversees Voice of America. A total of 532 jobs were to be eliminated from the government-funded VOA effective Tuesday, as part of the Trump administration’s job cuts. VOA is one of the several broadcast networks under the US Agency for Global Media, for which the Congress appropriated $875 million for the fiscal year 2025. Read more

    Navi Mumbai International Airport receives DGCA’s Aerodrome Licence

    Ahead of its planned inauguration on October 8, the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) on Tuesday received its Aerodrome Licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). This licence is essential for commencing operations for the airport that aims to ease congestion at Mumbai’s existing airport and strengthen regional and international connectivity.
