WB HS topper Subharangshu Sardar said: "I thank all my teachers and my parents for this. The strict discipline at RKM Narendrapur had a lot to do with my results. My message to every student will be to study for four-five hours minimum, daily," he said.

Subharangshu Sardar has topped the exam with 496 marks out of 500 which is 99.20%. Shushma Khan and Abu Sama have stood second with 495 marks or 99%. Chandrabindu Maity, Anusua Saha, Piyali Das and Shreya Mallik has got the third position with 494 marks which is 98.80%. Three students, namely Srijita Basak, Narendranath Banerjee, Prerona Pal have clinched the fourth place with 493 or 98.60% marks.

Meanwhile, total 11 districts registered over 90 per cent pass percentage with Purba Medinipur district topping the list after recording 95.75 per cent pass percentage.
A total 52,878 WBCHSE students (6.66 per cent of total success students) scored 80% and above marks. As many as 2,73,580 students (38.65 per cent of total successful students) scored 60 per cent and above marks.
The pass percentage among students belonging to minority communities is 87.58 per cent while the same for students belonging to SC/ST communities is 87.75 per cent.
In 2024, the West Bengal HS exam will be held from February 16 to 29
WBCHSE president Chiranjib Bhattacharya during a news conference announced the class 12 state board result. "Those who appeared in this year's higher secondary examination did not appear in Madhyamik examination (class 10 state board) exam in 2021 as the same was not held that year due to covid-19 pandemic situation. This year the HS results have been declared in 57 days after concluding the exam," he said.

This year total 87 students featured in the top ten merit list out of which 46 are male students. Out of the 87 candidates, 18 are from Hooghly district, 12 are from South 24 Parganas district while 3 are from Kolkata.

In 2022, Adisha Deb Sharma from Dinahata Soni Debi Jain High School in Chooch Behar district in north Bengal topped the exam after scoring 498 marks out of total 500 (99.6 per cent). Sayandeep Samanta from Jalchak Nateswari Netaji Vidyayatan in West Midnapore district came came second after scoring 497 marks (99.4 per cent).

In 2021, the West Bengal government had announced the cancellation of class 10 and 12 results due to the rise in Covid-19 cases in the state. A special evaluation criterion was formed to calculate the class 12 results last year. Of the 8,19,202 candidates who were to appear for in last year’s class 12 board exams, 97.69 per cent had passed. The pass percentage was 97.70 per cent among both boys and girls.

A total number of 3,19,327 students secured the first division, whereas in 2020 a total number of 7,61,583 students appeared in the examination, out of which 6,80,057 were successfully passed and promoted.
