
JEE Main: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar is of the 23 IITs in the country. The institute have 13 departments and seven centres. The institute offers BTech, MTech, MSc, MA, PhD and non-degree programmes. Admission to BTech programmes is done on the basis of JEE Advanced score.
IIT Gandhinagar offers four-year BTech programme in Artificial Intelligence, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. They also offer BTech-MTech dual degree programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
For master’s programme, the institute offers two-year MSc in Chemistry, Cognitive Science, Mathematics and Physics; two-year MA programme in Society and Culture and MTech. It also offers PGDIIT and PhD programmes in several disciplines of Engineering, Sciences and Humanities and Social Sciences.
In the last five years, IIT Gandhinagar has improved its overall ranking from 51 in 2019 to 35 in 2020 and it further went up from 33 in 2021. Though it fell in 2022, it improved significantly in 2023 by securing the 24th spot. The institute also entered the top 20 colleges for engineering.

While its national ranking has improved, its global ranking has suffered a setback with it being in the 801-1000 band for THE World University Rankings for 2023, a fall from previous years.

Established in 2008, the institute is located on the banks of river Sabarmati in Palaj, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. It is India’s first five-star GRIHA LD (green) campus for minimising negative impact on the environment. There are over 200 professors at the institute.
