Earlier in April, it was announced that the exam will be held on August 1. However, the exam was postponed due to the coronavirus situation across the country. Last year, the NEET-UG 2020 was conducted on September 13 amid strict precautions in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. The application form for NEET (UG) – 2021 has been divided into two sets/phases. The first set of information needs to be filled up before the last date of submission of the application form online. The second set of information needs to be filled up by the candidates before the declaration of the result/ downloading of score card during the period that would be notified separately through neet (UG) portal in due course.
The test pattern of NEET (UG)-2021 comprises of two sections. Each subject will consist of two sections. In areas, where candidates find it difficult to submit online application due to various constraints, the services of common services centre (CSC), under the Digital India initiatives may be utilised. The CSC scheme is a part of the National eGovernance Plan (NeGP) and is managed at each village Panchayat level by a village level entrepreneur (VLE).
After the display of OMR answer sheets and recorded responses, candidates will be given an opportunity to make an online challenge against the provisional answer key on payment of a processing fee of Rs 1000 per answer challenged.
The NTA will display the scanned images of OMR answer sheets and recorded response by the machine of all the candidates on the website ntaneet.nic.in. The exact date of display of the images of OMR answer sheets and responses, would be communicated after the examination on NTA website.
The merit list of the eligible and successful candidates who have opted for 15 per cent All India quota seats will be prepared by the NTA on the basis of marks obtained in the NEET (UG) - 2021. The list of successful candidates shall be forwarded to the Directorate General of Health Services (Medical Examination Cell), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and Ministry of AYUSH, for the purpose of allotment of seats by online counselling.
The facility of scribe/reader/lab assistant shall be allowed to any person with benchmark disability as defined under section 2(r) of the RPwD Act, 2016 and has limitation in writing. A compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour will also be allowed to the candidates who are availing the facility of scribe/reader/lab assistant.
According to the reservation policy, in the Central Universities and Institutions, 10% of the seats are reserved for the category general economically weaker section (GEN-EWS), 15% of the seats are reserved for the category scheduled caste (SC), 7.5% for the category scheduled tribe (ST) and 27% for the category other backward classes belonging to the non-creamy layer (OBC-NCL).
Admission to Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune shall be subject to the norms prescribed by the Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Services, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Candidates who apply for NEET (UG) - 2020 and/or for seeking admission in AFMC also need to apply to AFMC on www.afmc.nic.in/www.afmcdg1d.gov.in.
To apply for NEET-UG 2021, candidates should complete 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before December 31 of the year of his/her admission to the first year of UG medical courses. The upper age limit for NEET (UG) is 25 years as on the date of examination with a relaxation of 5 years for the candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC-NCL category and PwD candidates.
NEET (UG) – 2021 is a pen and paper-based test, to be answered on the specially designed machine gradable sheet using a ball point pen. The question papers for the test shall be based on a common syllabus notified by the Medical Council of India. It will also be available at mciindia.org.
Incomplete applications and applications not in accordance with instructions are liable to be rejected without any further intimation. The examination fee once deposited will not be refunded. The fee will neither be carried forward to a future examination nor refunded.
Merely appearing and qualifying in NEET (UG) does not confer any right to the candidate for admission to undergraduate medical courses. The selection and admission to any seat in any medical institution is subject to fulfilling the admission criteria, eligibility, rank in merit list, medical fitness and such other criteria as may be prescribed by the state and central government, and institutions.
The counselling for successful candidates under 15% All India Quota seats and all seats of deemed universities/central universities/seats of ESIC & AFMC including Delhi University (DU), BHU, AMU, AIIMS and JIPMER will be conducted by the MCC/DGHS for undergraduate medical courses.
