
Following the High Court’s direction, the Karnataka State Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has decided to conduct board exams for classes 5, 8 and 9 from March 25 (Monday). The exams were earlier scheduled to begin from March 13.
Additionally, the SSLC (class 10) exams are also set to begin from March 25 wherein 8.9 lakh students have registered.
As per the official schedule, the Class 5 exams will be held on March 25 — Environmental Studies (2:30 pm to 4:30pm) — and March 26 — Mathematics (10:am to 12pm).
Class 8 exams will be held from March 25 till 28. On March 25, the exam for Third language will be held from 2:30 pm to 5 pm, Mathematics exam will be held from 10 am till 12:30 pm on March 26, Science exam will be held from 2:30 pm till 5 pm on March 27, and Social Science (10 am to 12:30 pm) on March 28.
Similarly, for Class 9, the exam dates will remain the same, but the exam timings will change. On March 25, the exam for Third language will be held from 2 to 5 pm, Mathematics from 10 am till 1:15 pm on March 26, Science exam from 2 pm till 5: 15 pm on March 27, and Social Science from 10 am till 1:15 pm on March 28.
The examination for classes 5, 8 and 9 are scheduled in the afternoon on March 25 and March 27 so that the exams do not clash with SSLC exams. In the absence of SSLC examination, the summative assessment for classes 5, 8 and 9 will be held in the morning, KSEAB clarified.
The division bench of the Karnataka High Court today allowed the state government to conduct board exams for Classes 5, 8, and 9 under state syllabus, thus setting aside the single bench order that quashed the government’s order to conduct examinations.
