IIM-Ahmedabad & FPSB India launch executive programme in financial planning

Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) has partnered with the FPSB India, the Indian subsidiary of Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. (FPSB) to launch the executive programme in financial planning and investment advisory services. This collaboration aims to grow significance of structured financial planning education in India.

It is designed for mid-to-senior-level finance professionals, the one-year programme will equip
participants with knowledge of investment management, retirement tax planning, estate & portfolio risk management, insurance, and alternative investments, along with insights into regulatory frameworks and ethical standards.

The curriculum emphasizes behavioural finance, leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, essential for today’s financial advisors, as mentioned in the press release. Admissions for the course have been started from March and will end in August. The inaugural batch will start from September 2025.

The programme follows a blended learning model, combining 84 weekend online sessions with 10 days of immersive on-campus learning at IIMA. Participants will engage in real-world case studies, industry interactions, and dynamic classroom discussions with renowned faculty and experts. Upon successful completion, they will gain alumni status as per IIMA norms, further strengthening their professional credentials.

Meanwhile, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad ranked 27th for Business and Management Studies under Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2025.  The Indian School of Mines (ISM) University, Dhanbad, bags the top position in India. As many as 79 Indian institutes feature in the 15th edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject.

Indian School of Mines University, Dhanbad is ranked 20th globally for Engineering – Mineral and Mining, making it the country’s highest-performing subject area, followed by the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT-D) in the Engineering and Technology subject and Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (deemed to be university) in Dentistry subject at 26th rank.

IIT BombayIIT Kharagpur and the University of Delhi each feature 29 entries in the 2025 rankings. Among them, IIT Bombay stands out as the strongest performer in absolute terms, with 12 subjects improving.

The 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject include 533 entries from 79 Indian universities, up from 424 entries last year. Of these, 156 entries improved, 101 declined, and 154 remained stable, while 122 new entries made their debut in this edition. Across the five broad faculty areas, India contributes 79 entries, with 65 per cent (51 entries) showing improvements. Indian universities are particularly well represented in engineering and technology (24 institutions), followed by social sciences (20), natural sciences (19), arts and humanities (10), and life sciences and medicine (6).
