IIIT-Delhi Convocation: 780 graduates honoured; Arnav & Nalish bag Chancellor’s Gold Medal

The event awarded degrees to 517 BTech graduates, 226 MTech students, including three MTech. dual-degree holder, and 34 PhD graduates.

The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi, concluded its 14th Convocation by conferring degrees on 780 graduates across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes. This year, two males from BTech, Arnav Agrawal and Nalish Jain, got the Chancellor’s Gold Medal. In the convocation, Dr Anand Deshpande, founder and chairman, Persistent Systems, was the chief guest, who delivered the convocation address.

The IIIT Delhi ceremony recognised outstanding academic performances, presenting honours such as the Chancellor’s Gold Medal, Institute Silver Medals, All-Round Performance Medals, Best BTP Awards, and M.Tech. Excellence Gold Medal, Best M.Tech. Thesis Award, and a PhD dissertation award.

The event awarded degrees to 517 BTech graduates across fields like Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, Computer Science and Design, Computer Science and Social Sciences, Computer Science and Biosciences, and Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Additionally, 226 MTech students, including three MTech dual-degree holders, and 34 PhD graduates in areas such as Computational Biology, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Human-Centred Design, Mathematics, and Social Sciences and Humanities were recognised for their achievements.

Prof. Ranjan Bose, Director of IIIT-Delhi, addressed and presented the Director’s Report for 2024-25, highlighting a year of growth and innovation, including the launch of pioneering academic programs, cutting-edge research, entrepreneurial initiatives, and global collaborations.

Addressing the graduates, he added, “The experiences you carry from here will shape how you navigate the challenges of tomorrow. As you step into a world that needs your talent, courage, and compassion, choose paths that excite your intellectual passions, ignite your creativity, and channel your abilities productively.  At IIIT-Delhi, we have taught you to treat challenges as opportunities – opportunities to think differently, learn from mistakes, and realise your true potential. Be the leader, the innovator, and the change-maker, but always lean on kindness and compassion.”

Presiding over the ceremony, Prof. Rajesh Srivastava, Chairman of the Board of Governors, remarked, “IIIT-Delhi continues to embody the spirit of innovation, excellence, and social impact envisioned at its inception. As we celebrate our 14th Convocation, it is heartening to see the Institute’s remarkable progress in education, research, and entrepreneurship, from pioneering interdisciplinary programs to cutting-edge collaborations that address real-world challenges. Our graduates carry not only the knowledge but also the responsibility to make technology more humane and impactful. I am confident they will uphold IIIT-Delhi’s values and contribute meaningfully to India’s growth and global progress.”
