The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE), Raipur today announced that the state board exams for Class 10 and 12 will soon be conducted twice a year.

The CGBSE issued this order after detailed meetings with the state government. However, the department has not yet announced whether the change in the board exams pattern will be applicable from the coming academic year, or next. A decision on the same is yet to be taken.

As per the official guidelines, the first examination will be conducted in March and the second exam will be conducted in June-July. However, only students registered in the first examination will be eligible to fill the second examination application form but change of subject will not be accepted.

Those students, who fail in all subjects, get supplementary or are absent and students who wish to improve their grade (in all subjects) will be eligible to appear in the second examination. Students who have passed in all subjects will be eligible to fill a form for mark improvement in one or more subjects in the second exam.

The remaining scheme of the opportunity test will remain the same.

This comes a few days after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that students will get an option of appearing for Class 10 and Class 12 board exams twice a year from the academic session 2025-26. Interestingly, he made this announcement while launching the PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) scheme in Chhattisgarh under which 211 schools of the state will be upgraded.
