WBBSE Madhyamik Class 10th Result 2023: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) on Friday announced the results of the 2023 Class 10 board examinations. As many as 118 students secured the first 10 ranks and the state saw an overall pass percentage of 86.15. The result is available at official websites – wbbse.wb.gov.in, wbbse.org or at wb.allresults.nic.in.

Devdatta Majhi, a student of Katwa Durgadasi Chaudhurani Girls High School, secured the first rank by scoring 697 out of 700 or 99.57 per cent. “I want to become an engineer and want to study at an IIT. I am thrilled that I have scored the first rank,” said Majhi.

Shubham Pal of Burdwan and Rifat Hasan Sarkar of Malda each scored 691 out of 700, securing the second rank. Six candidates secured the third rank while two – Samadrita Sen and Anish Badui – shared the fourth rank. Shubojit Dey and Arijit Mondal are in the fifth position.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated the candidates. “Congratulations and best wishes to all the students who passed the secondary examination. May each of your future days be filled with success,” she tweeted.

This year, as many as 6,82,321 students appeared for the examination, of which 5,65,428 passed.

The total pass percentage in the General Category stood at 86.15, while it was 82.88 per cent in the SC category and 76.03 per cent in the ST category. Purba Medinipur scored the highest followed by Kalimpong, Kolkata and Paschim Medinipur. As many as 13.67 per cent of the candidates scored more than 60 per cent.

Of the 118 students in the top ten ranks, 21 were from Malda, 17 from Purba Bardhaman, 14 from Bankura, 13 from South 24 Parganas, 11 from Purba Medinipur , nine from North 24 Parganas, nine from Paschim Medinipur, six from Purulia, five were from Hooghly and four from Howrah, while there were three students from Cooch Behar, two from Birbhum and one each from Dakshin Dinajpur, Jalpaiguri, Jhargram and Nadia districts. Notably, none of the toppers were from schools in Kolkata.

The examination of 20 candidates stood cancelled, while the results of two students were withheld due to technical reasons.
