Lok Dal, which was part of the INDIA bloc during the Lok Sabha polls and was promoted by Congress as the “asli Lok Dal” after Jayant Chaudhary-led Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) had joined the BJP-led NDA, Wednesday announced seven candidates for Haryana Assembly polls. The party is upset with the Congress for not responding to its request for a seat-sharing arrangement in Haryana. Lok Dal is headed by Sunil Singh (in image) who had attended the Ramlila Maidan rally of the INDIA bloc during the Lok Sabha polls, besides attending other rallies with Congress leaders. Singh on Wednesday said that Congress was not giving due importance to INDIA bloc constituents.
The Army is learnt to have issued verbal directions to its personnel that only Indian liquor available in its canteens will henceforth be served in messes and parties. Earlier, foreign liquor was available in canteens, but that was stopped a few years ago. However, many messes continued serving the foreign liquor after purchasing it from the market.
The Janata Dal (United) central office Wednesday shared a list of official spokespersons— including nine for Bihar and one national spokesperson — amid concerns that “unauthorised” representatives represent the party in TV debates. The party feels that these unofficial voices can end up upsetting allies such as the BJP.
