Pinki Pramaniks gender test can be done in city,says SSKM super

The state has the facility to conduct the chromosomal test of Asiad gold medallist Pinki Pramanik accused of being a male and raping her live-in partner.

The state has the facility to conduct the chromosomal test of Asiad gold medallist Pinki Pramanik accused of being a male and raping her live-in partner. SSKM Hospital superintendent Tamal Kanti Ghosh says it can be done at a government institute in the city.

Pramaniks gender verification test at the SSKM Hospital on Monday remained inconclusive as it was said the hospital didnt have the facilities for the karyotype chromosomal test. The sample is supposed to be sent to Mumbai or Hyderabad.

Ghosh said an appeal to conduct the test in Bengal would be made to the court .There is a communication gap. We dont conduct the chromosomal test at the SSKM at present but we have the facilities, Ghosh said. The Indian Institute of Chemical Biology is also an option.
