CLAIMING that its senior leaders and workers were prevented from holding a pro-Palestine demonstration, the Peoples Democratic Party said here Tuesday that there was a pattern that, whenever the party wants to organise a “peaceful protest” in Jammu and Kashmir, the government thwarts it.

At a press conference at the party headquarters in Srinagar, Iltija Mufti, the daughter of former PDP chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, said the party’s leaders and workers have been taken into detention or kept under house arrest, and accused the government of “selectively targeting” the party and launching “a brutal and vicious crackdown” against it. “The people of Kashmir have always stood behind the people of Palestine,” Iltija said.
