A youngster preparing for competitive examinations was found dead at his residence in Navi Peth area of Pune city, on Friday.
Police have identified the deceased as Sagar Subhash Pawar (26), native of Buldhana district of Maharashtra. Police suspect that Sagar died by suicide, but a probe was launched to confirm the cause behind the death.
Police said Sagar was residing in Pune for the last few years while he was preparing for the competitive examinations conducted by the government for different posts.
He was residing in a rented house with his roommates in Navi Peth area of Pune city. Police suspect that he died by suicide when his friends left the roommates on Friday.
When his roommates returned in the afternoon, they knocked on the door of the house, but there was no response. So they informed the police control room. A police team reached the spot. The cops entered the house by breaking the door, but found Sagar dead. Police sent the dead body to a hospital for postmortem.
Senior police inspector Pradip Kasbe of the Vishrambag police station said that the deceased had not left any note before his death. A prima-facie probe revealed that he had been under stress for the last few days.
As per the legal procedure, an accidental death report was lodged at the Vishrambag police station and an investigation was initiated to confirm the cause behind his death, police said.
Meanwhile, the police informed family members of the deceased about his death.
