Vesavar Art Gallery is ready to take residents of Pune on a soulful journey of art. Their latest exhibition ‘Veritas’ is an ode to John Fernandes, whose unforgettable masterpieces will adorn the walls of Vesavar and take art lovers on an unforgettable journey.
Fernandes, known as the finest realistic painter in India, painted figures, landscapes, still life and anything that he found interesting in all mediums — watercolours, oils, pastels, acrylic. The late master artist’s paintings will be showcased at the Vesavar Art Gallery for two months from November 18 to January 19 as a tribute to his legacy and to draw art lovers into his vivid world of colour and emotion.
“John Fernandes is a renowned artist in Indian realism. He only followed realistic art. He has huge followers. Although there were many artists in realistic painting, the way Fernandes worked in colour schemes, his impressions, and the way he used to capture views in landscapes were completely different and he had a strong memory, his compositions were different. He created his own identity and style. He did not follow only one medium of painting he created art through pastels, oil paints, water colours unlike other artists,” said Pranali Harpudeh, Director, Vesavar Studio.
“Fernandes had many exhibitions in Mumbai, people used to indulge in his paintings. There have been very less exhibitions in Pune that’s why we (she and other Director Kavita Bhandari) decided to install an exhibition, as watching his paintings itself is a treat,” added Harpudeh.
Visitors can see these paintings, as well as buy them. Entry is free and those who are curious about art can visit Vesavar Art Gallery from 10.30 am to 7.30 pm every day.
