An unidentified man committed theft at a mosque in Nana Peth area in Pune in the early hours of Friday. An FIR has been lodged at Samarth police station in this connection.
According to a press release issued by the police on Saturday, the burglar broke into the mosque located on Jawaharlal Nehru Road in Nana Peth around 1.30 am on Friday. The burglar then broke the donation box and took away Rs 10,000 in cash. The police have launched a search for the accused.
Meanwhile, around the same time, an unidentified person broke into an apartment at Kumar Meadows in Manjari Budruk and escaped with gold ornaments and valuables worth Rs 4.1 lakh. An FIR for theft was lodged at the Hadapsar police station.
In a separate incident, unidentified persons committed theft of air conditioner equipment at the Pune Metro Office near Vanaz in Kothrud. A Metro staffer lodged an FIR at Kothrud police station on Friday.
As per the press release issued on Saturday, the burglars broke into the Metro office by tampering with its door lock around 3.30 pm on October 13, and took away air conditioner equipment worth Rs 1.77 lakh.
Metro staffers got to know about the theft a couple of days ago and reported it to the police. After receiving information, a police team led by senior police inspector Sandip Deshmane visited the spot. The police have booked unidentified persons under sections 303(2), 324(2), and 3(5) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Efforts are on to arrest the burglars, the police said.
