Mumbai-Pune became India’s top intercity route while Pune has emerged as a key hub for Uber in India, securing the fifth position with the highest number of rides, according to the company’s latest annual report.

Titled ‘How India Ubered in 2024’, the report also saw Pune placed well in ratings provided by drivers to their favourite riders. The high rating reflects that Pune riders have a good reputation for maintaining a positive rider-driver experience.

Pune stands out with one of the highest average rider ratings in the country, at 4.815, just behind Chandigarh, whereas it became the second city in India after Kochi with around 93 per cent trips where drivers rated five-star ratings to riders. The riders in Kochi were loved the most by Uber drivers during the year, with the city having the highest average rider rating of 4.90 out of 5.

As per the data, for Pune specifically, intercity routes have seen significant traction, with travellers frequently booking trips to nearby destinations such as Mumbai and the other locations between Pune and Mumbai. Additionally, Pune is among the five cities in India in terms of the fastest average speeds clocked on the roads, while Delhi-NCR is on top.

According to the information provided, last year, Indians Ubered more than ever before, setting new benchmarks and travel trends shaping mobility in the country. Collectively, Uber trips spanned a staggering 9.2 billion kilometres in 2024.

Considering Pune’s mobility needs at Pune International Airport (PIA), Uber recently launched India’s first ‘Assisted Service’ option in its app at the new terminal. This offers a specialised service for people with mobility challenges and makes it easier for them to reach their destinations. This facility was started only in Pune to directly drop selective passengers such as people with disabilities (PWD), solo women travellers and pregnant women at their destinations.

Talking about the need for cabs at Aeromall parking, Y S Rajput, vice president of Aeromall Authority, said passengers ride with Uber more than others as the Aeromall parking has more Uber taxis than those of other aggregator companies.
