Police officer found dead in Koregaon Park, probe on

A 55-year-old police officer was found dead in the Koregaon Park area on Saturday morning.

The control room of the Pune city police received information about a man lying unconscious in lane number 7 of Koregaon Park around 10.30 am.

Soon, a police team rushed to the spot for investigation. Police identified the deceased as Dattatraya Kurale, a police sub-inspector attached to the Motor Transport (MT) department of the state police.

Kurale’s body was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the doctors. The body was then taken to Sassoon hospital for post-mortem.

A case of accidental death (AD) was registered at the Koregaon Park police station and a probe was launched to find the cause behind Kurale’s death.

Police said Kurale had joined the police force as a constable. According to police, Kurale had gone to the Little Goa building in lane number 7 of Koregaon Park in the morning. Police have accessed footage of CCTV cameras installed at the spot for investigation.
